About us...

Gaynor Voice is a Physics graduate of Oxford University and a qualified teacher with experience of mainstream state and private education.  Her own children have been home-educated: two have now completed their A Levels and have Univeristy places and one is now heading into the last year of A Levels. Gaynor is also an exam marker with one of the major exam boards.

Most children sleep with mobile phone beside bed

More than half of children say they sleep with their mobile phone beside their bed, according to an annual survey of young people's use of media.

The Childwise report found children getting mobiles at an earlier age, with most now having their own phone by the age of seven.

The average time spent on mobiles by seven to 16-year-olds is three hours and 20 minutes per day.

Half of UK 10-year-olds own a smartphone

Fifty per cent of the UK's 10-year-olds owned a smartphone in 2019, according to a report by media regulator Ofcom.

The amount of young phone owners doubled between the ages of nine and 10, which Ofcom dubbed "the age of digital independence".
